Whether you are new to living gluten free or an old hat, there is more we are learning every day about hidden sources of gluten.
It’s not as simple as reading the product label and not seeing gluten or wheat spelled out, or just asking your server at a restaurant if there’s gluten in the dish you want to order.
Most product labels aren’t going to say, “There’s Gluten in here!” and the restaurant that prepared your meal may have unknowingly put hidden sources of gluten in your meal, such as flour or soy sauce. Or they may not have put gluten directly in your food, but may have cross contaminated it in the kitchen without even thinking that they did.
If you are gluten sensitive and you leave your own kitchen, at some point, you’re going to get GLUTENED! It’s almost impossible not to.
So what do you do about it?
Until now, nothing! Except make all of your own meals, don’t go to restaurants, don’t eat at friends’ homes and basically be a prisoner to your gluten sensitivity. (If you missed my blog on gluten sensitivity, click here for more details.)
But this is not how I want you to live. You should have support and help so you can enjoy food, eat out and not have to worry.
There are plenty of resources to help you identify Hidden Sources of Gluten in foods so that you are more prepared for your next trip to the market.
You will be amazed at how many hidden sources of gluten there are in foods! Here are some great resources that will tell you where gluten is hiding!

What’s new is that now there is a product designed to digest gluten proteins that are hiding in you food. You can protect yourself from hidden sources of gluten, diary, soy and egg with GI Shield™, your secret weapon against this damaging ingredient!
This is the one-of-a-kind digestive enzyme on the market shown to produce 99% digestion of all 8 major antigens (wheat, dairy, soy, egg, nuts, fish, hemp, pea) within 90 minutes.
If you’d like to try GI Shield™, click here.
Just keep in mind that taking GI Shield™ doesn’t mean you can go back to ordering the bread basket in a restaurant. GI Shield™ will cover small amounts of gluten contamination hiding in food. It won’t cover you eating a platter of gluten packed pasta! But if you could digest and remove occasional gluten contamination, that is a huge benefit for many people with gluten sensitivity.
So far, I am hearing great results from my patients using this product. This is the kind of feedback we are getting! It’s truly remarkable.
GI Shield™ is a protein pulverizing formula uniquely designed with powerful enzymes, prebiotics and probiotics to break down gluten, dairy, soy and egg proteins by targeting both internal and external peptide bonds.* GI Shield™ goes beyond the traditional DPPIV enzyme, offering superior degradation of these proteins by breaking down unhydrolyzed peptides.* Additionally, the highly specialized prebiotic, PreForPro™ is unique in supporting the proliferation of beneficial bacteria in both the small and large intestines.* This plays a critical role in breaking down gluten and other proteins to promote a healthy intestinal tract*.
And, GI Shield™ is Clinically Demonstrated to be Effective, A double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trial conducted at Kennesaw State University has shown that after just one week of supplementation at every meal, the multi-enzyme blend in GI Shield™ helps alleviate:
- Stomach discomfort* • Bloating* • Stomach rumbling*

Bonus Tip: Check your supplements and vitamins for gluten-containing ingredients! And don’t forget about your makeup. What goes on the skin, can absorb into your body!
The great news is that you no longer have to be a prisoner to your gluten sensitivity!
I am very happy to share the news about GI Shield™ with my patients that are gluten sensitive, as this makes a big difference when you are eating foods that are not certified gluten free. I suggest if you have established gluten sensitivity, that you take 1 GI Shield™ capsule before each meal when eating at restaurants and when eating questionable foods, especially when away from home.
